stuff still can and does fail. Th C900 was great, but not perfect. I had one for 20 years. Read Swedecar's post above about under-engineered and under-specified parts.
How about the assurance of a heater core failure in the 9000? The all but guaranteed failure of the SID display on 9-3 and 9-5 cars? The way a CPS can leave you stranded? The almost predictable death of the heater control valve on a 9-5? And we all know about DIs. All cars have stuff like this.
Any car can fail and leave you stuck someplace. Saab did use a lot of good parts, but sometimes the bean counters got in the way, as they do on all cars.
