I thought that when I first moved out here. So I bought one of the lock boxes. Looks like a regular mail box but when its opend it has a slot for the mail to go in. So not long after putting it up, I left for the month of December a few years back and someone took a crowbar to the front door and busted the deadbolt right out of its wooden frame to gain access to the house.
Nothing but spare change was taken but the thought weighs heavily on my mind if it was someone I brought to the house or a homeless person so that's when I installed motion cameras. Had the cameras up for about a year and a half now and its surprisaling quite' out here. Except for every other Tuesday having the bible bangers at my door there's nothing, its really amazing the comfort these camas give a person. So far I haven't had anyone except the mail man pull up to the mail box and open it. Rewinding a days footage to see any event that may have taken place takes about 30sec.
There's no more guessing if someone's in the back yard or unbolting the a.c. To get the copper core, just got to look at a single monitor and see all corners of the house I love technology :) now if someone can invent a mail box that gets up and moves out of the way.
