I bought my 1999 95 tubo 4 cylander in 2003.I have owned it for 10 years. Most of which have been very happy years. A known fact about Saabs is their long life. Holding up and providing a great ride and reliability. Also a known fact is, they require some expensive maintenance. Basically things wear out and need repair or replacement. In the earlier years I was spending an average of a thousand dollars per visit. Kind of steep, but because of Saabs great reputation my thinking was, absorb these expenses and in the long run it'll pay off. That was true to an extent. As any vehicle does, Saab as well, they continue to wear out.
One major blow happened at our local Saab dealership and mechcanic. The guy in charge of parts and repairs mentioned I needed to replace my lower bushings in the rear wheels. I was shocked (I couldn't resist using that pun). I said; are you kidding? You supposedly replaced the uppers and lowers a year ago. Didn't you? They said, oh ya so we did.I said, you did replace them right?
That was the last time I ever went back there. Bottom line is finding a good and trustworthy mechanic. Being a die hard Saab owner. I had a serious accident on the job 15 years ago. It put me on a, unfortunatly permanent disabled list, I don't have the income I had and this car is all I have to rely on. Keeping it on the road and maintaining it for reliabiliy is utmost importance. This site is crucial to achieving this is paramount. Thanks people.
