I have been pleased with Hagerty for my Sonett Posted by NCCaniac [Email] (#352) [Profile/Gallery] (more from NCCaniac) on Tue, 18 Mar 2014 09:37:55 In Reply to: How does classic car insurance work?, B Millar [Profile/Gallery] , Mon, 17 Mar 2014 12:15:37 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
I do not know if the policy details have to change from state to state, but I also found that it did not make sense to insure my Sonett three years ago with my regular insurance company here in NC. Too expensive and they would not insure its true value.
I contacted the local AAA insurance office (they act as a broker for various insurance companies) and they suggested Hagerty. Hagerty accepted my agreed value (I think I said $7000 since it would likely take that much to restore another half-decent Sonett to the condition mine is in now). I have to keep it garaged and I think I have a 5,000 mile per year limit (but they said that is not rigidly enforced). The policy is about $120/year, if I remember correctly, and they provide free flatbed towing service within a certain distance of your home. The one time I needed a longer distance it was covered under my AAA membership.
I am not sure if your 20 year old c900 would qualify for Hagerty yet or not, but it is worth checking.
