Did you read "Mike's" comments below that article? The notion that DeGiorgio was aware of the issue but a revision was shot down by management repeatedly until DeGiorgio secretly revised the part but not the number in 2006 is an interesting one. If next year DeGiorgio is driving a nice car and living in a nice house, we might have the answer to the question.

Not saying that's how it did or will go down, but it'd be interesting to know what the check for saying "I don't remember" a bunch of times looks like. That and having your name associated with a bunch of deaths.

I don't believe there is any way any one will ever know the truth here. You can't build a death-causing defective product for that long without a BUNCH of stuff going wrong, either accidentally or intentionally. A lot of people were no doubt somehow involved, and it's highly unlikely anyone but fairly high management could even have a clue what the whole story is. The worker bees invariably see pieces of the story, but not the whole arc.

I think what remains to be seen is whether a Trifecta tune also cures the ignition switch issue, like it makes the 1.4l the most powerful motor on earth.
