I wouldn't trivialize a 100 mile ride, certainly on anything except flat terrain and taking all day to do it. There's a reason doing a 'century' is a pretty big deal for most riders. It's takes about the same caloric energy as a marathon, though your body will feel a lot better afterword without the pounding of running. After all, the biking portion of the ironman is only 112 miles.
