topping off oil in the pouring rain? Posted by Snowmobile [Email] (#686) [Profile/Gallery] (more from Snowmobile) on Mon, 8 Jun 2015 07:18:16 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
Oil was low on the 1989 c900 so I topped it off this morning before work, but unfortunately it was a downpour. Car stalled 2x and had to push it to the side of the road a few blocks from home and drive a different SAAB in. Bsttery light and CEL were on.
Not sure if the problem is:
electrical - water all over engine bay (but water splashes up there anyway when the roads are wet, right?
or water in oil - honestly how much water will go down the dipstick tube even in a downpour. Wouldn't have been open more than 2 minutes. I know oil in the water lines can result in a milkshake, but surely there wouldn't be enough water that got in to do that?
Car was starting and running perfectly as of Friday and has a pretty much brand new interstate battery etc.
thanks!
