Airplay works well for us. We had some initial problems as the stereo was near the kitchen with a microwave oven. The microwave interfered with the wifi signal. That was before the dual band AP Extreme. I installed some powerline adapters from my Airport Extreme to the Airport Express and all has been fine for several years. If your receiver has optical inputs this is a great solution.
