I'm a saabnet member but posting anonymously. I usually do most of my own repairs but last spring I took my car to an indy (who we’ve used before for mostly smaller jobs) for a large repair I couldn’t handle. The repair had a 3 year warranty, and this past summer (13 months after initial work) the repair failed. I brought it back, and they had it for 3+ weeks (thankfully I was out of work at the time) but when it came back the repair still wasn’t right. I brought it back for a third time, it stayed another few weeks and I was told it was ok, but it’s still not right. This last time, the indy admitted that the complete job hadn’t been done right the first time, which is consistent with my past experience at this place and has probably mucked up some other components which I’m guessing will now have to be replaced as well at additional expense.

Honestly at this point I am pretty sure it will never be fixed correctly by this particular indy. Help me consider my options?

Option 1. I can walk away and suffer the financial loss (ironically the indy is no cheaper than bigger places, I just wanted to give my business to the least corporate place around), and pay someone else the entire amount all over again to fix it properly (ouch).
Option 2. I can contact my credit card company and ask to be reimbursed for this work which was never done to my satisfaction
Option 3. I can ask for a pro-rated refund, since the repair only lasted 1/3 of the promised time.
Option 4: ?!?!

I’m usually not one to cause a ruckus, but this has me really frustrated. Thanks for any advice.
