I followed the instructions on the Massachusetts FastLane site and returned our failed transponder to them for testing and possible replacement. Shipment required wrapping it in aluminum foil! The transponder failed the test and a new, much smaller, transponder was returned to us.
We had two units on our account, the second unit being used by our youngest son while he is a Resident at UPMC in Pittsburgh. With his car, my Viggen, and our two daily drivers, we total four vehicles on our account. With four cars we are allowed to have a third (and even a fourth) transponder which was requested and arrived before the Christmas Holidays. So I kept the third unit in its foil packet for the drive to PTG and exchanged it for his old unit while we were visiting him, a unit which was only a year or two newer than our failed 10 year old unit.
So now I need to cancel the 8-9 year old device and wait for FastLane to tell me if they want to have it returned to them.
