I can’t speak to its usefulness in wrenching as I’ve never used it on my car and I’m not sure what’s available in today’s market but I have had a Porter Cable impact driver that I found at Lowes on a Father’s Day sale well over five years ago. It’s still on the original battery and I have found it to be a very useful and capable tool for my medium level DIY projects.
While I would consider replacing it with another Porter Cable, being frugal myself, batteries drive my decisions these days and so I would probably replace it with a DeWalt as I’ve invested in several of their tools lately with varying capacity batteries.
I would shy away from anything off brand and YouTube reviewers are given tools for free in return for reviews ( and clicks from the links that advertise them in the description) so I feel there is bias there.
I’m not sure if they have done a comparison of these tools but I have always found Consumer Reports as a good source for vetting out any purchases I’ve made.
All that being said, whenever I’m looking for a tool that gets the job done for the least amount of money not necessarily with an expectation that it would last, Harbor Freight is my go-to.
Good Luck!
