Synthetic oils are NOT corrosive to seals.
In general, synthetic oil are compatable with all engine seals. However, there are some seal materials that are not compatible with synthetic oils. By compatible I mean that engine seal materials typically swell in the presence of petroleum oil. Some seal materials either do not swell enough or swell too much when exposed to synthetic oils. Therefore, it is a good advice to find out if the engine you wish to run synthetic oil in has any known seal material incompatibilities.
