What about a VW Jetta GLS (1.8T)?

I think VW is winning a lot of credibility these days, and while the Jetta is a bit expensive for the size of car you get(not sure whether you want a bigger one), the 1.8T version has a great engine, all the bells and whistles, is roomy inside and is built incredibly well. I think lease deals are in the $225/month range...and a lot more fun than an Accord. I've driven many a Camry Hertz rental, and they rank at the bottom of driver satisfaction in my book.
My roommate has a Jetta TDi, and while I'm not a huge diesel fan, I will say it's built well (seems more solid than my Viggen sometimes...scary that I say that) and seemed bulletproof.
Just a thought...I would have looked at a Passat 4Motion back when I was looking, except that it's automatic only....
Good Luck!
