Have just got first Saab, but other car was the first car bought for fun. A 1981 Merc 280CE, with a kosher 30,000 miles on the clock, 2 owners, always garaged. Still almost mint.
Why don't they make cars like this anymore? It has everything I want; excellent build quality - after 20 years the door thunk is gratifyingly meaty (and this is a coupe so the door is BIG); a simple strong engine; a luxurious inside (still smells new); lots of chrome to shine; those beautiful colour coded wheels; not a single computer to go wrong.
Buying a new car was a horrible experience - I'm glad I was able to find something with a little character.
