Here are my 2 candidates!

All remember that sheet metal
assembly company called Renault,
for many years it was state owned
and it produced THE WORST ever turbo
cars that one could imagine.

The French with their sense of humor...
mass produced these.

From 1978 to 1983 the FAMOUS R5 Alpine Turbo...
1.3L 4cyl engine
side mounted camshaft
twin-carburator
8 valves
110hp using leaded fuel (emissions deadly enough to
be banned as chemical weapons nowadays)
Garrett T3 turbo (only oil cooled)
NO Intercooler!!!
The car was absolute crap, not only did they
rust, but the turbo installation was as poor
as could be done, not to mention all the ratles.
Handling was... well TERRIBLE.

Because demand was high they came out
with an IMPROVED version!!! Like one
could improve that thing LMAO!

Since 1984 there was a R5 GT Turbo all improved!!!
1.3L 4cyl engine
side mounted camshaft
twin-carburator
8 valves
115hp using leaded fuel (emissions deadly enough to
be banned as chemical weapons nowadays)
Garrett T2 turbo (only oil cooled)
NO Intercooler!!!

By using even more plastic... well the rust was
less visible, the engine still prone to backfires
and like before it would last around 60000 miles at
best.

The people at Renault had a lot of guts to mass
produce these 2 Lemons... cause both of them
were total crap, I knew people who had those
and they were trouble, more trouble then
the worst Jags. ever made. Backfires in the
turbo installation being the main problem
as well as knocking and everything...
And you know what... Renault was bashing in the
press about those 2 "GREAT" little cars.

Sure some of them could be made into quite
fast little race cars, but they were never usefull
as a daily drive.

So what other TURBO cars can you name that
were total utter failures LMAO
Name the TURBO junk on wheels!

Regards,
Coolknight
