Yes, Ford made a Mustang in the late 70s with a four cylinder turbocharged engine and a 4 speed transmission. It was pretty powerful, and so, so crude. Pushing on the gas meant a wild scary ride as the soft front end picked right up and those narrow front tires barely had any hold on the pavement. And the back end would bottom out and start twisting to the right. You just had to hold on and hope for the best. The transmission couldn't handle it... dropped out at 30K miles. Warranties back then were for 12K miles!
This was Ford's idea of a european sport coupe!
