Like many others... I was affected by the downturn, the semicon I worked for let me go.. Unfortunately, I'm HR, yes, HR.
You know, I'm hardly gonna miss the goth scene though, only because I don't see it much anymore in Portland, is it still a thing in Seattle?
Ten years ago, sure... But now in Portland, the "bar scene" for the late 20's- early 30's crowd(me) is lots of young working stiffs checking each other out.
That said, you're probably right... Compared to Portland (and Seattle, where I lived for a couple years in the early 90's) it would be a change.
I may (or may not) have a girlfriend following me, depending on how committed she thinks she is if this all pans out.
The bottom line: I need a break in the medical industry, I *really* want to get away from Semiconductor/fabs because, frankly, there is not much future for a young guy/gal climbing the ladder outside of engineering.
