my school sends me updates, and one proudly proclaimed that the enrollment of women was up to 21%. Woo Hoo, only a 4:1 ratio instead of a 9:1 ratio! It's still nowhere near 1:1. Also, it's unclear whether they are considering all women or those that are juniors or above. It was my experience that women dropped out early. Also, it was my experience that more women than men were into engineering for the challenge and didn't really want to be engineers. I personally knew of two women (and when I was going to school that was a lot of women!) engineering students who only went to engineering for the challenge. One went the MBA route; the other became an attorney.
