What year is your Volvo with 2 rear fog lights? I had an '86 Volvo 240 wagon, and it had two rear foglights, separate bulb and lens from the brake lights. I traded that on a '93 240 wagon, and it had only one reaf foglight, on the driver's (left) side. At first I thought the right side foglight was broken, but when I complained to the Volvo dealer, they said that there was no foglight on the right side (which I confirmed by taking off the lens - no bulb and no socket where there had been one on my '86 Volvo). The Volvo dealer said that Volvo changed in order to meet the European Union lighting requirements, which mandated only one rear foglight in order to avoid confusion with the brake lights.

When I was visiting Germany, the Netherlands, and Belgium in August 2001, it rained almost every day I was there, and I did a lot of "autobahn" driving in all three countries. Most people had their rear foglight on, and they all seemed to have just one rear foglight on the left side. I don't recall seeing any cars with 2 rear foglights. Maybe the rules are different in Britain?

Those of us with '95 - '98 9000s also have only one foglight - and only one backup light, too!! For as little as I use my rear foglight, I'd like to convert it to a second backup light - has anyone done this??
