Flint makes the same mistake in this column as he has in other pontifications about Saab, something which Wagoner addressed in his Autoweek interview (see other thread on the BB).
Point is, if there was no Saab in the GM stable, would there be anything else that GM offers Stateside that any of us would be willing to look at?
For me, maybe the CTS. MAYBE.
Otherwise, it's au revoir, GM and off to some other automotive conglomerate.
Don't get me wrong, I'm extremely grateful for what GM has done for Saab over the past few years, even when the carmaker continues to lose money. I just hope they can stick to it for a few more years, and give their current investment a chance to work. It won't if they listen to nabobs like Flint.
Still, I'll give him credit for one thing--he says he'd rather GM cut Saab loose, rather than have it slowly sink into the hell of GM homogenization.
