obviously anyone in that third row seating is in for a world of hurt if the car gets rear-ended - the rear facing kind especially, they don't even have 3 point belts back there, do they? If not, you get to choose between being unbelted and dead for sure as you go shooting out through the back window, or belted and dead perhaps from internal injuries ...
Even so, it's way ahead of people rattling around loose in the cargo compartment lying on an old blanket. there's got to be a lot more chance of hitting something outright, or t-boning, or being t-boned, as compared to beign rear ended.
