Interesting. But I question b.flippo's assumption that facing away from the direction of a crash, to the rear, is such a bad idea. Look at the US manned space capsules. They were subjected to high g's at takeoff, with the prospect of much higher forces in event of a hard landing. In every one, the astronauts were sitting on their backs. That spreads the body's weight evenly over a huge area. If the headrests are sufficient, and I haven't looked at the 9-5 wagon's, the head is ideally supported from frontal crash forces. Those other concerns remain, however...
