you a story close to home.
My sister in law have a BMW X5 with currently 35K on the odometer.
The other day we were talking about her car and me opening up my own shop.
She told me that she had to take it in to the dealer because it was ticking really bad, and they informed her that the engine was VERY low on oil. She couldn't understand that because it was not quite up to 15K miles yet since last oilchange.
They told her in strong language that even though the oil change interval is 15K miles, doesn't mean she can DRIVE the car 15K miles without topping of the engine with more oil now and than.
And I think most people (average people) think that way. Good, now I don't have to think about the engine/car for another 15K miles.
And than you have some that maybe stretch it to 20K miles, and suddenly you end up with the case that I had in the shop last week (1999 9-5 with 45K miles and trashed engine)
