(thus the reputation for longevity - less moving parts means less can break) My dad had a cherokee 2dr that he put close to 150k on with little trouble. eventually it died on a hot day in stopped traffic - my brother was running the airconditioner and cooked the rings. I assume this is abnormal wear. His jeep felt ok on the highway and the auto trans (he had 4wd) combined with the 6 was plenty strong for commuting. I've heard that they don't crash too well (deos any SUV?) but on the upside I think he averaged near 20mpg on his 50 mi commute.
