Electric Drive systems are indeed simpler with less moving parts, hence ultimately more reliable, than ICE drive systems.

However, the battery energy storage is fundamentally flawed: carrying all oxidation agent and all oxidized resulting product inside the car just makes no sense. A system that takes oxygen from the air and dumps water vapor and CO2 into the air (to be recycled in power generation, like a thorium power generator, at stationary sites away from the car itself) makes much more sense.

Liquid or gaseous fuel is a much more efficient energy storage format than electric batteries, and takes much less time to refuel, as well as much less hassle for recycling batteries and less polluting in "battery" manufacturing.

EV's are okay as toy secondary or tertiary cars for the wealthy. After more middle class people try them, and some burning up spectacularly after submerging in flash floods in people in them, people will find fuel cell vehicles as much better solutions. Ironically, a Tesla or "Karma" is far more likely to "Hindenburg" than a hydrogen car; a tank of hydrogen or methane is literally safer than a tank of propane or gasoline, as the former two would rise and dissipate quickly if leaked.
