That's interesting about the Michelins cracking. When I bought my E36 BMW four years ago it had a pair of worn out tires and a pair of nearly new "Riken Raptors." I read they are a Michelin brand made in Indonesia likely using slightly older tread patterns and compounds, so with decent reviews and Michelin backing I bought another pair to have the same tires on all wheel. I'm happy with them, except I've noticed the spider cracking on all four tires already! We only put 5k a year on the car and there's tons of tread left so I'm definitely not thrilled about it as I've only seen this on truly old tires before but will just keep an eye on them for now.
