Alternate Brand for family members (and me)? Posted by iveand [Email] (#3155) [Profile/Gallery] (more from iveand) on Fri, 2 Dec 2022 14:09:15 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
Saab to me has always been about "responsible performance", "lots of car for the price" (since I buy used), "repairability", utility, efficiency, etc.
I imagine many of us hold to those values, but I also need to look at something newer for a 20 year old daughter. She is uncomfortable with manual transmission. In addition, I would do repairs / maintenance for her so I would like it repairable. Utility (NO SUV however!) is important. So ideally a smaller hatchback. It needs to be "budget friendly" (under $5K is preferred)
Where are people going to fit this list? Subaru, Mazda, Volvo, Ford Focus, Hyundai Accent Hatch, other? Honestly I wouldn't mind finding another brand I could commit to that would allow me to buy a turbo manual hatch sometime in the future (but it will never replace my beloved SPG :-). So if there is some brand that fits my daughter's needs and also mine it would be the best of both worlds. My son, FWIW, loves manual so he would follow my preference too.
Thanks for any suggestions,
iveand
