Similar dilemma - somehow Audi A3 and 9-5 Aero ended up on the top of my list as a replacement for my base 1999 9-3. So I drove them back to back last weekend.
Started with A3 - really nice car, immaculate interior, strong engine - speed creeps up on you due to the lack of turbo lag, great handling, looks much better in person. So many things to like but the whole package left me cold somehow.
The moment my ass was in the 2002 Aero seat (manual) the Audi was quickly forgotten. Never having driven 9-5 before I was blown away. The seats, the engine, the whole feel of the car - there's just no comparison. I guess now I know what my next car will be. Just need to find the black or dark blue 2002 with tan interior.
