Savvy SUV shoppers... Posted by Mike Lynch [Email] (#81) [Profile/Gallery] (more from Mike Lynch) on Fri, 17 Feb 2006 10:46:58 In Reply to: Right, meant to note that in my last post, Noel, Fri, 17 Feb 2006 06:36:04 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
Yes and no. An open mind towards product is not the popular approach towards car buying, it's more like once selected will it deliver the goods? If the 9-7X was such a perfect vehicle, the total SUV market being what it is, Saab dealers would be come 9-7X dealers who sold an occassional Swedish car. Once a customer is onto a 9-7X the product does deliver style and performance wise. Decent automobile, exemplary ride and handling, nice interior, the V8 scoots, all the toys. Would I have preferred a Trollhattan engineered and built SUV like an XC90 is for Volvo, you bet, but I'm very satisfied with the 9-7X as is. It makes a statement of uniqueness and style and draws attention to the Saab family. And the SUV market is so vast that Saab will sell it's build of the vehicle I'm betting.
So I dunno' about too many 9-7X cross shoppers. It does seem to me that the 9-2X people are more cross shopping inclined. And while I may feel that 9-2X is somehow closer in spirit to a Saab, there are just way more SUV people for a 9-7X than a Saab guy would imagine.
