Parts for the 164 can be costly especially with the 4-valve engine they used in 94-95, however, they are easy to find. The timing-belt change alone is very expensive and requires someone who is very familiar with the cars. Of course, the 164 suffers from electrical gremlins as do just about all European cars. If you like how it drives and the price is right, buy it and enjoy it. I've always liked the looks of the 164 but have always been disappointed once I drive one - it's more luxury than typical Alfa sporty-ness. Make sure the car comes with a full records history and the timing belt has been changed. By now, regardless of mileage, it should have been changed (I think it was recommended at 60k or 10 years). And of course, have an Alfa mechanic give it a once-over.
