is that you might want to think beyond sedan. It depends on how long you plan to keep the car, but a wagon is not a bad thing with kidlets. Many of them handle about as well as a sedan and they hold a ton of kid support systems better than a sedan. Think 9-5 Aero or Volvo Cross Country, Audi All Road, Suby Outback. Or even a Nissan Murano.
My kids are 11 and 16, and EVERYONE we know who started with a sedan went to at least a wagon because sedans just don't seem to have the versatility most families need. We went from a C900 4-door to a Volvo wagon, then finally an Exploder due to changing kid activities (dog shows in our case). The choice does depend on your life style and what other vehicles you have.
FWIW, rear legroom can be a biggie. If you or your spouse has to ride in back to calm an unhappy kid, legroom is suddenly a big deal, 'cuz it's always on a longer trip. And more room in back also makes getting the little urchins in and out of their car seats MUCH easier. Your spouse will appreciate this.
Hope this helps!
