As other say, Volvo blue coolant is the same as Saab blue coolant as in the BMW blue coolant which is the G48.
But now Valvoline/zerex say that one is not produced anymore???
The yellowish G05 is what Saab is using and it comes in a GM jug.
Valvoline/Zerex say G48 and G05 is fully compatible and I'm pretty sure all the "green stuff" out there is also working with the G48 and G05.
I don't understand your thermostat question. You can rotate the thermostat to any direction you want. It is no locator tabs on a Volvo thermostat as it used to be on the old Saab ones.
You should always replace the ECT sensor with thermostat since they fail too and only use Volvo genuine thermostat (whaler is ok if temp rating is correct) and ECT sensor in these cars.
