very true on the similar vehicles... is the Regal the smaller one? I thought it was the Verano? why produce so many similar sedans? I suppose if you are big volume, having a little differentiation gives a bit more identity for the masses that buy those cars...
Honestly, I thought the 9-3ss and the og9-5 were way too similar in size. Both available as sedan and (eventually for the 9-3) wagon... it made waaay more sense when the 9-3 was a hatch and vert only and the 9-5 was a sedan and wagon only...
With jeep, they kind have 2 looks going in 2 sizes: old school Wrangler and (kind of) Patriot... modern looking Compass, Cherokee, Grand... much of selling cars is about looks vs utility so even if a Cherokee and Wrangler were identical for utility (which I think they aren't really are they - eg there's no topless option for the Cherokee), they probably have quite different buyers... I always thought of the Grand Cherokee as a kind of yuppie family hauler, even if it is pretty off road capable... for most owners it maybe pulls the boat to the cottage kind of deal... Wrangler's more hard core no?
