panic situations to help a driver keep control of a car, not really to improve handling in all situations.
I think its also important to teach a kid how things feel. My parents took me to a mall parking lot early on a saturday morning, and walked me through some panic situations in all of our cars, so I could see how each one handled. The scarriest was the 70's ford truck my brother and I restored...
I plan on taking my kids to the desert in an old beater 4x4 and teaching them how to control a vehicle. That is 12 years off so I have some time, but that's the plan.
