I have pondered the transmission cooler idea for a long time, but there is one thing that always troubles me:
Like you, I imagine the best place to suck the oil from is the diff cover, but one thing I cannot visualize is how to guarantee that the oil you suck out makes it back there in a reasonable period of time. The flow rate would have to be very, very low since the oil passageway from front to back on the transmission is pretty small and would probably be made even less efficient by all the thrashing going on in the gearbox.
How are you working with this? I actually considered the notion of isolating the "rear end" from the gearbox entirely, and circulating fluid only within the rear end. Perhaps a side advantage of going this route is the ability to use a very supportive oil in the rear end (something shockproof, for example) while still using something synchro friendly in the gearbox. I just wasn't sure if the pinion bearing itself would do an adequate job of blocking fluid. I assume it would, but I don't know about this stuff. :D
