i bought a bunch of Redline's Shockproof oil thinking it would be good protection for the gearbox, but the local Redline rep said it wasn't a very good choice for synchromesh gearboxes. I took it back ($10qt was NOT worth the experiment at the time) so I have no clue what the actual performance or protection is... His actual words (and this is a quote):
"The ShockProof lubes contain a friction modifier and are too
slippery for the synchros, that would be the biggest concern in your
racing transaxle."
Somewhat unrelated, has anyone considered converting the c900 to a dry sump system? Removing all that hot oil from on top of the gearbox might be worth some benefit to it, aside from the potential benefit of a dry sump system. Of course, plumbing it might be difficult, not to mention finding a place to store two gallons of oil... hmmm.
