DIY exhaust Posted by TML [Email] (#2212) [Profile/Gallery] (more from TML) on Wed, 22 Mar 2006 13:56:59 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
I had this idea that I could fabricate my own exhaust, from the flex pipe back to go with the 3" downpipe I got from Jak. I found a place online where I can buy mandrel bends, and of course straight pipe in stainless steel. By cutting the pipe at a specific point in the bend, I can create any angle of bend. For example, if I cut a 45deg bend in the middle, I can make two 22.5deg turns. All I have to do it weld all the pieces together. I took a look at the stock exhaust, and I figure there are only 10-12 cuts/welds that I'd have to make, including the two mufflers. Does this seem like it is feasible to do? I realise it would involve some tacking and test fitting along the way. By the way, the reason I started to think about this is that every place I've tried around here refuses to use stainless welds, which to me defeats the purpose.
