Hi Jak,
to follow on this thought, but in a NA you don't have much "reserve" because as you said you are normally balls out anyway. on the other hand, on a turbo you usually aren't, and have more... let's call it head room. While you might in fact have a higher percentage lose of HP or torque, you may in fact have enough that you won't really suffer. I was just on a run with the guys today, we went to Palomar Mountain. altitude over 5,000 feet at max. car could still break the wheels at will all the way.
