Remember, the transmission on a C900 is the oilpan for the B202 motor. The transmission is underneath the block, vs. next to the block in the newer B204 setups.
I'd love to see a newer saab motor put into a C900, but to keep it longitudinal the same way the OE motor is, you'll have to completely manufacture a new transmission to keep the front wheel drive.
I know there is another guy somewhere who made a mounting flange for a BMW transmission to a B234 motor. So you could take a B204 (or B234, same block) use a similar flange, mate up a BMW transmission & rear diff and do a RWD conversion. This is actually something I've been researching myself to do for a C900 track car.
