Ummm, did you mean 34lb injectors to go with the stage II chip? Because 24lb injectors with stage II would almost certainly crack a piston.
Just making sure.
Agree with everything John said, but check all the obvious things first. I cracked a piston because of a fuel pump making too little pressure and trying to run too much boost. Check the fuel pressure on both sides of the regulator, the fuel filter, make sure the timing is correct, make sure the vacuum diaphragm holds pressure, same with wastegate actuator, injectors flowing correctly (not clogged, or broken pintles). Also, vacuum leak, bad crankcase vent into intake, restriction in intake, etc.
A lot of these you can check postmortem (fuel pressure, oil in intake, etc.,) but vacuum leaks will obviously be hard to find.
Second being curious on where it cracked as well. Mine cracked from detonation and split all the way around the timing chain side wrist pin from the bottom of the top ring land down to the skirt on both sides. Cracked the top compression ring. No burning or material removed from the piston.
Best,
Drew
