Where did it crack at? Was it a hole in the middle or was it near the edge? Near the edge can mean pre-ignition, timing too advanced or retarded. A hole in the middle can mean lean condition and check to see if the top ring is colapsed. They will colapse and have no spring left in them and be touching each other on the ends if it gets above around 1600f inside the combustion chamber. A lean condition usually causes this or just plain too much boost from a turbo running out of its efficincy range.
Get a egt gage mounted in you're exhaust manifold and make sure you never let it get above 1600f. W/m injection is a great way to lower the egts and also allows you to get away with more advanced timing.
I plan to run my wide-band with egt for safe good measure on my 3076 on my ng900 and will push 400whp in Denver at 6000'. I will also have pressure and rpm to chart my pulls against. I will now be able to data log my car and know exactly what is going on and by doing that, I hope to keep my motor together for a long while. I did opt for forged je pistons just to be safe... Good Luck,
John
