Your thread got me thinking. Please note that what I am about to share is in no way meant to prevent one from buying a header/tubular exhaust manifold. If somebody out there feels this is the "cat's meow", then by all means buy one.
In the journey of maximizing one's performance with regards to exhaust flow, shouldn't the focus be on getting the exhaust out of the engine ASAP rather than making sure an exhuast manifold is equal length to aid in a faster spool up of the turbo. For my 9000, I am of the opinion that I should port my exhaust ports in my head so that the exhaust flows out faster. Further, I believe designing a header so that the turbo moves over to the left of the car so that my exhaust downpipe from the turbo can be as straight as possible. Is there any merit in my logic? Or am I over anyalizing things? After all (one could argue), forced induction is forced induction. When you start shoving air around with a turbo, it will get away from the engine ASAP regardless of the amount of curves in the exhaust.
Hope you'll share your thoughts on this one.
Cheers.
