I have a buddy who use to work at a performance shop. He mainly delt with modifying normally asparated engines. When he saw the set up on my 95 9000 (with custom tune and a GT28 with custom 3" downpipe) he shook his head. That set up is restrictive noted my buddy. He recommended moving the turbo over to the left side of the car so that downpipe off the turbo could be designed to be much straighter - basically a 90 degree turn off the turbo and down to the rear exhaust we go! Not being an authoritative voice on performance mods, I thought maybe he is onto something. I also thought - why the heck hasn't anybody else done this?? My buddy and I can't be that smart! ;)
Anyhow, by you taking the time, Drew, to explain how the pulses need to be timed properly along with heat/energy to make the turbo spin efficiently helps me understand the big picture for my Saab. I'm gonna stick with a tubular manifold and keep the turbo in the same spot as factory.
Thanks for taking the time to explain this.
Cheers.
