Crankshaft pulley mod

I nixed the power steering on my 86 900 8v car, in favor of 79 900 ems rack. While in the process of prepping a used motor to swap in, I came up with the idea to machine off the extra pulley mass in an effort to reduce the rotating mass. I would be removing the PS pulley as well as the bosses for the ac pulley bolts. Also considered removing some other material from the other side of the pulley. Of course I would re-balance the pulley before attempting to re install it. between the flywheel losing 10 lbs and the crank pulley losing a few, the rotating mass will be considerably reduced. The engine should be very responsive.
Question is,... will this have any adverse effects on the engine? will I be risking catastrophic failure if the pulley doesnt work? How does the 2 parts of the pulley bond to the rubber isolator? I have a few used pulleys that I can attempt this with and it only takes about 1/2 hour to swap pulleys, so what can it hurt????
Opinions please!!!
