I see the V8 guys using "billet" aluminum pulley setups that are lighter than stock. Why would lightening the crank pulley have any different effect than reducing the weight of the other big mass of steel on the other end of the crank? If anything I would think it should reduce the load the bearings are taking. I took 5 lbs out of my flywheel years ago and the bottom end is still together. I could see there being a problem if the pulley is out of balance, but its being done by a machine shop that balances and blueprints 25,000 dollar race engines. I think they would know what they are doing. My concern is primarily due to the fact that part of the rubber will be shaved off the face of the pulley.
