I am talking with Brad from KC Saab about his race engines. He uses 8v head motors. Im likely to have him put together the head and build the 2.1 bottom end locally per his recipe. He has an intake that uses Mikuni sidedraft carbs in place of the CIS. Im hoping for 200 or better at the crank. I think the earlier crank pulley (damper) from the 99 and real early 900s had smaller pulleys. They had a single alt/wp belt on early cars and some had manual steering. Im sure they were lighter. Brad uses a custom made aluminum pulley on his race motors. I really dont know until I try it, but I would think the balance of the pulley is more critical than the reduced weight. Besides I will be having the entire rotating assembly balanced internally. The damper COMPENSATES for internal balance discrepancies that are present in mass produced motors IMO. If your balance tolerances are tighter internally, do you really need to dampen the vibration?
