I have always wanted a lotus (sold my SPG so I could save for one) & what I like about the elise/exige over porsche's, BMW's etc is the consumables are a lot less. Being a celica engine there is nothing to it.... tires and brakes are small/cheap however what scares me is how fragile they are. I just read a thread where a student let his instructor drive his elise where they clipped a corner cone at 70ish mph which equaled $1,000 is damage to the lotus. Thus maybe a miata is in my future ..... cheap, fun..... great little cars!!!!
The Esprit is what I really want however consumables are a lot more & the v8 variety is scary expensive to maintain.
Unfortunantly not all drivers schools allow convertibles at all so some checking might be needed to see what the local track organizations allow or don't allow.
