But I've personally Broken 3 !! transboxes (albeit at 20 + psi :-) .. not whining about it just saying it's more than a weak link . I've seen several broken boxes on Stock C900's 3rd gears with most all their teeth sheared off. Operator ewroor? perhaps? but then there sure are (were :-) a Lot of incompetent owners then.
No way it could be the design/engineering? Gawd No! that's Heresy!
Hardly a PC issue. If some Newbie has a woody, on building the world's Biggest/ baddest Saab engine he should be made aware of the all too obvious pitfalls (unless someone has something to sell ??). Our saabs have Piss Poor Transboxes... they are fragile and honestly don't shift overly well at all (just to add insult to injury).
One MUST treat then with caution / care... as they can and do break, all too easily.
It wasn't TOO many years ago (Late 80's) that ONLY a transplant of the old Saab 4 spd Transbox was proven to tolerate/survive a tweaked C900 engine (the 5 spd was a frankenstien retrofit that screwed up the structural integrity of the basic Saab transaxle design)
Ignoring this is just sticking your head in the sand .. hoping it will just all go away.
Wayy too many little piss ant Saab Shops promote Mo' Power with no acknowledgement or even lip service of the time proven consequences.
Enough ranting.. Just been at this for 25+ years and every season there are New Babblers armed with less than basic knowledge Or the history behind them.
