Adapting Volvo turbo EZK...no spark, no fuel

I am currently attempting to adapt my 85 turbo-16 to run an EZK from an LH2.2 Volvo 740 turbo. I believe that this unit would allow better overall driveability in conjunction with the APC, and would allow me to more accurately control spark, instead of modifying mechanical distributor diaphragm's etc.
I have the box 0 261 201 012 and the harness with knock/distributor/igniter plugs intact.
should I not be able to simply apply power and ground to the unit, plug EZK into hall effect sensor, and plug the igniter in and at minimum get spark?
I am uning the SAAB igniter/amplifier, and have simply plugged the EZK's harness into it, then wired pin 1 of the igniter to the '-' side of the coil, pin 4 to the coil '+' (12V), and the trigger (pin 5) comes from the box.
I realize that i must also wire the 'load' and TPS to the EZK, but should it not fire the plugs without these inputs anyways?
im stuck, as i can manually fire the coil and injectors, by simply pulsing pin 4 of the igniter to ground, but cannot get the Box to do it (and it has power).
is the Hall sensor compatible with these units? the box IS supplying voltage (5.8 volts if i remember) to hall +, and there is 12V between hall + and the shielding marked '0'...
any advice? anyone ever done this? am i dumb for doing this?:) thanks in advance
