the plan was, if i got the car running, I would switch to an ECU with the load signal attached onto the microcontroller, then simply load the saab 515 bin into the volvo unit thus maintaing the fuel characteristics of the saab 2.0L. I realize that the volvo EZK may have a non ideal retards curve in it, but as far im concerned its going to be better and more accurate than a daiphragm which retards to 10° at anything more than about 5psi or so. The knock signal characteristics between these engines is not that different either, plus i doubt there is a difference in the knock signal conditioning anyways in a 1980's system...or maybe im totally wrong. I would also like to run a high static advance if possible. As you also mentioned, it has been hacked, so i guess i could just go 'fix' the curve anyways. I like the volvo unit more than the saab one simply because it was fitted to a turbocharged car, and i have it :)
at this point i was just trying to get the car to even start on the EZK and go from there. more of just a experiment anyways...just wanted to be rid of vacuum retard/advance
i will go get the Volvo coil driver and try it, but at this point im thinking that the EZK may not even be sending a signal to the ICM at all? i will check now. The hall effect sensors...are they the same?
if i cant get it on the car, ill try it on the bench and see whats up
thanks for your help
